Boeing taps debt market to raise $10 billion: Reuters
  + stars: | 2024-04-29 | by ( ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +2 min
The Boeing logo is displayed on a Boeing building on January 8, 2024 in El Segundo, California. Boeing on Monday tapped debt markets to raise $10 billion, after the U.S. planemaker burned $3.93 billion in free cash during the first quarter following slowing production of its best-selling jet, sources familiar with the matter said. Moody's said the rating reflects Boeing's still-strong business profile, which continues to mitigate ongoing weak performance in commercial aircraft, although headwinds surrounding the division could persist through 2026. Boeing will use the bond proceeds to increase its liquidity ahead of maturities on its existing debt load, including $4.3 billion in 2025, S&P wrote on Monday. The deal's bookrunners leading the bond sale include Bank of America , Citi, JPMorgan and Wells Fargo , according to the deal's term sheet.

The bad news prompted some bond investors to question whether Bayer should sweeten the terms of the deal or outright pull it, one of the sources said. The drug-to-pesticides group priced the investment grade bond on Thursday last week, with the deal closing on Tuesday. Bayer priced bonds with maturities between three to 30 years. It was the 10th largest investment grade bond deal by an industrial company this year and attracted more than $22 billion in orders, according to Informa Global Markets. The events were "not enough to trigger a material adverse change clause in bond documents for investors to ask to be paid back," said CreditSights' Brady.

REUTERS/Rodrigo Garrido/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSANTIAGO, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Chile's Codelco raised $2 billion in a bond offering in New York on Tuesday, as the world's top copper producer seeks to fund an investment drive to revive flagging output. The firm debut by Harita Nickel could boost sentiment surrounding upcoming IPOs in Indonesia, which is one of the world's hottest IPO markets this year on a drive by the government to privatise some state-owned enterprises. Harita Nickel's stock opened at 1,285 rupiah per share, slightly higher than its initial public offering (IPO) price of 1,250 rupiah a share, on the Indonesian stock exchange. The IPO comes at a time when nickel-rich Indonesia steps up efforts to become a major player in the electric vehicle industry. Harita Nickel's peer Merdeka Battery Materials is scheduled to debut on the local bourse next, on April 18, after raising 8.75 trillion rupiah. Harita Nickel's IPO was the largest in Indonesia in almost a year after the $1.1 billion listing of tech firm GoTo (GOTO.JK) in April.
Reuters reports the fast fashion retailer is targeting a U.S. IPO in the second half of 2023. Shein cut its valuation to $64 billion in this fundraising, down by a third from a funding round a year ago, according to six sources with knowledge of the matter. All sources declined to be identified as the information was confidential. Shein said it does not currently have plans for an IPO and declined to comment further. Shein, founded by Chinese entrepreneur Chris Xu, has grown into one of the world's largest online fashion marketplaces since its 2008 launch in Nanjing.
A CHINESE COMPANY? Those rules followed a regulatory crackdown that has slowed U.S. listings by Chinese companies to a trickle. Chinese companies raised only around $230 million in U.S. listings last year, a massive drop from $12.9 billion in 2021, according to Refinitiv data. It was not immediately clear if SHEIN is planning to officially seek Chinese regulatory approval for its IPO. The moves were designed so that SHEIN could bypass seeking Chinese regulatory approval for the listing, sources have previously said.

Lazard is advising Belgium on the move, while BNP Paribas Fortis, BofA Securities and Goldman Sachs International are acting as joint bookrunners, it added. The sale would mean Belgium will no longer hold the biggest stake in BNP Paribas. BNP Paribas did not immediately respond to a request seeking comment.
DUBAI, Feb 21 (Reuters) - Egypt was set to raise $1.5 billion on Tuesday from its debut sale of Islamic bonds known as sukuk at a yield of 11%, a document on the deal showed. The three-year sukuk had initial guidance of around 11.625% and tightened after books closed with demand over $5.35 billion, the document reviewed by Reuters showed. The sukuk will be listed on the London Stock Exchange, issued through The Egyptian Financial Company for Sovereign Taskeek, with the finance ministry as obligor. The sukuk will help Egypt repay $1.25 billion in five-year Eurobonds, which carried a fixed interest rate of 5.577% and mature on Feb. 21.

Amazon creates bazaar for U.S. banking wannabes
  + stars: | 2023-01-24 | by ( Jeffrey Goldfarb | ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +3 min
The e-commerce goliath recently added to its growing pile of debt with an $8 billion loan. After first tapping the market’s biggest bookrunners, Amazon enlisted Canada’s TD Securities to shop the lesser-traveled byways around Wall Street for the follow-up deal. It’s easy to understand why the wannabes would jump at the chance to work with Amazon. Others such as BBVA, which offloaded its American subsidiary but kept its broker-dealer business, are keen to expand in U.S. investment banking. For Amazon, spreading the wealth is a chance to trial new banking relationships before potentially hiring them for more complicated matters.
PARIS, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Air France-KLM on Wednesday raised just over 300 million euros ($312 million) by issuing subordinated bonds convertible into stock, seeking to strengthen its capital and pay back state aid but sending its shares plummeting. Air France said in February that it was considering options for raising of up to 4 billion euros of capital, including a rights issue and quasi-equity debt issues. The bonds, which can be exchanged into existing Air France shares as well as converted into new shares, were offered through a placement to qualified investors, the airline said. Major shareholder CMA CGM, a shipping company, participated in the issue pro rata to its 9% equity stake in the company, Air France said in a statement. "The company is not aware of any subscription intention from its other main shareholders," Air France said.
At the same time, the pan-European STOXX 600 (.STOXX) was down 0.4% and an index of European oil and gas stocks was down 0.9%. (.SXEP)The IPO, which priced at the bottom of the expected price range, gave an initial valuation of 2.45 billion pounds ($2.83 billion) for the company. The London stock exchange has suffered the worst year on record for UK IPOs as market volatility persists amid the energy crisis and worsening economic forecasts. So far in 2022, global utility and energy IPOs valued at more than $100 million saw an average 19.9% return after one day, compared with negative returns for European utility and energy IPOs and UK IPOs across all sectors, according to Dealogic data. The last oil and gas producer to float on the main London stock exchange was eastern Mediterranean-focused Energean (ENOG.L) in 2018.
Nov 8 (Reuters) - North Sea oil and gas producer Ithaca Energy's (IPO-IHEG.L) planned initial public offering (IPO) in London is set to be priced at the bottom of the range at 250 pence per share, a bookrunner on the deal said on Tuesday. The planned IPO of Ithaca - owned by Tel Aviv-listed Delek Group (DLEKG.TA) - on the London Stock Exchange on Wednesday has been closely watched in an IPO market starved of activity since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Delek bought Ithaca in April from private equity-backed Siccar Point Energy, already flagging its intention to float. The state's stake stood at 71% at the start of the year. AIB shares closed up 1.96% at 3.20 euros on Monday. The last placing, conducted before euro zone banks began to benefit from European Central Bank interest rate hikes, was priced at 2.28 euros per share. Ireland pumped 64 billion euros ($64.2 billion), or almost 40% of its then annual economic output, into the country's banks just over a decade ago following a huge property crash.
